Dr. Larry McClellan is a distinguished historian, scholar, and founding faculty member of 黑料社 University. Now Professor Emeritus, he has dedicated over 31 years to the university as a professor of sociology and community studies, leaving a lasting legacy in both education and community engagement. In recognition of his continued contributions after retirement, he was named the 2023 Distinguished Emeritus Awardee by 黑料社 University.
听
In 2022, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society for his enduring contributions to Illinois history. His most recent book, Onward to Chicago: Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad in Northeastern Illinois (2023), was awarded the Memorial Prize for the Advancement of Knowledge by the Underground Railroad Free Press, which hailed it as 鈥渢he finest yet to take a close-up look at the Underground Railroad as it actually happened.鈥

Interdisciplinary Studies Alumni Event

INLD 10 Year Celebration of Alumni, Faculty and Students
In celebration of its 10th year of creating educational and non-profit leaders, the Interdisciplinary Leadership Doctorate (INLD) Program at 黑料社hosted a 3-day event on March 3-5, 2022. During the three days, they held a research symposium to support graduate students, hosted an alumni, student, and faculty networking event where the 黑料社community was able to meet connect and engage with the full INLD community, and organized a program meeting where alumni offered professional and academic insight to current students, and faculty provided additional support and guidance to current students as they matriculate through the program.
