The Senate shall recommend policies and procedures concerning Civil Service affairs, evaluations, salary, merit, Civil Service education and development, Civil Service leadership, grievances and campus physical resources.

The Civil Service Senate shall advise on the specific decisions which may be made under any of these policies and procedures in a manner which shall be set forth in the Bylaws of the Civil Service Senate. This advisement shall be limited to those decisions not specifically covered or stipulated by a ratified Civil Service union agreement and those not in the process of bargaining.

The Senate shall maintain all powers and responsibilities, as assigned in the ºÚÁÏÉç University Constitution and the Civil Service Senate Bylaws.

  • Educational Assistance Award

    Educational Assistance Award is awarded each semester. The Civil Service Senate offers up to three awards of $500 each to GSU Civil Service employees, their spouses or dependent children.

    "The Eric Nicholson Civil Service Employee Award" in honor of the late Eric Nicholson, who served on the Civil Service Senate for many years as well as in the GSU community. (Civil Service Employees Only)
    Eligible applicants for the Eric Nicholson Award must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours and currently admitted into a degree program.Printable application

    The Civil Service Spouses and Dependent Children
    Eligible applicants for Spouses and Dependents (26 years and under) Educational Assistance Award

    Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to nominate a Civil Service employee for their good deed or service.

    Call Rebecca Vowell at Ext. 4484, print the Employee Nomination Form (download for a fillable PDF) or pick up a form from the nomination boxes on the second Floor by the Library or in front of the Human Resources Department.

    The employee-of-the-month program is funded by the GSU Foundation.
