IU CIBER Partnership
黑料社College of Business听Partnership with听 Indiana University Center for International Business Education and Research (IU CIBER)
2010-2014 Globalizing Business Schools Consortium
COB's partnership IU CIBER started in 2010 when we joined the 鈥淕lobalizing Business Schools鈥 consortium as IU鈥檚 Minority Serving Institute (MSI) partner. During 2010-2014, COB engaged in various activities to internationalize its curriculum, faculty and students. With the support from the GBS consortium and IU CIBER, 15 COB faculty membership have participated in the summer faculty development in international business seminars at the University of Memphis CIBER between 2010 and 2014. In addition, six faculty members participated in international professional development trips to India, Turkey, Brazil, China, South Africa, and Scandinavian countries between 2010 and 2014. COB faculty gained tremendous knowledge and skills from these programs, and incorporated what they learned in their classroom teaching and research.听
COB also offered two short term summer study abroad trips during the past four years, one to China in 2012, the other to Poland in 2014. IU CIBER provided generous financial support for both trips. In spring 2014, four MBA/MSA students from 黑料社participated in 鈥淓ngaging MBA Students鈥 program, offered by IU Kelley School of Business and supported by grant from the United States Agency for International Development. 黑料社students worked with MBA students from IU Kelley School and University of West Indie in the team setting, providing business consulting service to Barbados businesses in manufacturing, tourism, and other service sectors.听
2014 and Beyond
Although COB's participation in the Globalizing Business Schools consortium ended in October 2014, the collaboration with IU CIBER continues into their 2014-2018 grant cycle. In 2014 IU CIBER was one of the only 17 CIBERs in the country that received the funding from Department of Education for the 2014-2018 grant period. This is a great achievement considering the fact that the number of CIBERs were cut from 33 in 2010-2014 grant period to only 17 for 2014-2018.
COB is one of the four partners that IU CIBER will work with for the next four years to expand their reach into the greater Chicagoland area, in the forms of workshop to business, professional development network for community college faculty, as well as study trips for 黑料社students and students from our DDP partner schools. A details the significance of the 2014-2018 grant and the collaboration with 黑料社COB.
For the first year of the grant cycle (2014-2015), COB will receives $27,520 from IU CIBER to offer the following three programs (this is almost 10% of IU CIBER鈥檚 funding for 2014-2015). COB's grant funded projects include:
Professional Development Workshops focused on doing business in specific regions, especially the strategically important regions identified by DOE for this grant cycle (Sub-Sahara Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia in particular). The first two workshops were focused on Latin America and Africa with future workshops focused on .
Developing a Regional Internationalization Network with Area Community Colleges in our region to encourage internationalization of business and language curriculum.听Each summer a 鈥淔aculty Development in International Business鈥 workshop will be offered to faculty in community colleges in the region. We will be working with the School of Extended Learning to offer this professional development program. COB faculty will lead the workshops.听
