FACULTY PROFILE
Professor Paul Blobaum served as the Library Faculty
Liaison to the College of Health and Human Services programs of Nursing, Health
Administration, Social Work, Addiction Studies/Behavioral Health, Community
Health, and Communications Disorders.听He
served as Scholarly Communications Librarian, where he administered the
library鈥檚 digital scholarly repository, OPUS (http//opus.govst.edu), archives, special collections, and digital collections areas. He also
served as Head of the Reference Department of the University Library.
Professor Blobaum was
appointed to the University Library Faculty in 2001 following a career in
academic medical libraries and hospital libraries.听Professor Blobaum鈥檚 research has focused on
collection development and hospital libraries.听He has presented his research on the local,
regional, national, and international levels.听
Professor Blobaum鈥檚 publications include original
research on the literature of addictions treatment, essays on hospital library
services, and numerous reviews. 听He is
the co-author of systematic reviews of nursing interventions.听听 He currently serves on the editorial board of the
Journal of Hospital Librarianship and
serves on the peer review panel for the Pediatric
Nursing journal.听
Professor Blobaum has served on numerous university
committees, including serving as Faculty Senate President from 2007-2010, and Chair
of the University Personnel Committee. He also served as President of the
Health Science Librarians of Illinois, and as a member of several Medical Library
Association award juries. Professor Blobaum serves as Chair Elect on the Executive Committee, Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section, Medical Library Committee.
Professor Blobaum was awarded a Faculty Excellence Award in 2005, 2007, and
2009.听 His paper presentation, 鈥淢apping
the Literature of Addiction Treatment鈥 received 2nd Place Research
Paper award at the 2012 Medical Library Association annual conference.听听听
